| Assistant Professor of Metabolomics | The Departments of Nutrition and Food Science and Technology are currently seeking to fill a faculty position by July 1, 2008. We are interested in individuals who have or can establish a strong research program focusing on metabolic regulation, specifically the physiological impact of nutritionally dependent metabolic fluxes and patterns. The candidate must have demonstrated skills and abilities related to the integration of metabolic data with high information content into physiologically meaningful results. Strongest consideration will be given to those with a commitment to understanding how foods and their nutrient components alter metabolic responses important to human health and health risks. Particular areas of campus strengths are cardiovascular health, adiposity, diabetes, and chronic inflammation, although the University of California, Davis is internationally recognized as a leading Institution in all aspects of diet and health. The successful applicant will be expected to have or the potential to develop an internationally recognized independent and well-funded research program, which is consistent with the mission of the CAES and its associated Agricultural Experiment Station, to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level, to train and supervise graduate students. The successful candidate will occupy a key position in a University-wide, multi-disciplinary program (UC Davis Foods for Health Institute), whose aim is to understand the relationships between foods and food intake and human health (cf. http://caes.ucdavis.edu/AcadProg/Foods_For_Health.doc). Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses nutrition and food science.
